Primary Admissions

At Minster we are proud to say we have a long history of providing prospective families with bespoke tours, providing them opportunity to experience first-hand the quality of our relationships, teaching and learning, and curriculum.

We are acutely aware of how important it is for prospective families to gain a sense of how a school looks and feels when making such an important decision as choosing the right school for you and your child and would love to see you for a tour (see details below).

However, we have also created a growing suite of videos capturing the views and experiences from members of our Minster Magic Community. The aim of these videos is to give you an insight into our approaches, what we value and how life at Minster Primary feels.

When your child is three or four years old, parents or carers will need to start thinking about which primary school you would like your child to go to.

At Minster in Sheppey Primary School we welcome you to view the school, by watching our Virtual Tours  https://www.minster-sheppey.kent.sch.uk/virtual-tours-2/or by attending one of our Open Sessions for families with prospective new entrants.  Dates for these sessions are advertised on an annual basis.  Please telephone the school office for more details.

The County Admissions procedure is followed on an annual basis, which includes the advice to apply for a school place online. Please see the following link to find the admissions booklet detailing the application process: http://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools/school-places/primary-school-places

Parents are informed by the Local Authority of the decision regarding a place for their child.  After you have been informed that your child has been offered a place, you will receive information regarding our induction programme for children joining our Foundation Stage so that you and your child can become familiar with school and can start in September with confidence.

You can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (Thursday 16 April 2026).  You must submit your appeal before Monday 18 May 2026 for it to be considered by Monday 20 July 2026. Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

Appeals

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.
