Minster Pledge

The Minster Pledge

As a community we wanted to make a commitment to ten experiences we wished our children to have at their time at Minster. These ten experiences are embedded across the curriculum and wider school experience.

As part of our Ambition Day, pupils learn basic First Aid skills using Red Cross materials, this includes pupils knowing how to make an emergency phone call.

Our pupils are keen to support a range of charities including national events such as, Children in Need, Red Nose Day, and Christmas jumper Day. They have also supported events more personal to them including Great Ormand Street Christmas present appeal.

Our Minster Parliament encourages pupils to take on a range of roles including, Wellbeing, Eco, and Sports roles. Many of our Year 5 and 6 pupils also become buddies supporting our younger children at lunchtimes in the hall and outside.

Where possible we bring events into school this includes the annual Shakespeare theatre experience linked to MacBeth. As an Artsmark school we have taken part in range of events linked to theatre 31 and the Royal Opera House.

We arrange annual cycling proficiency events for our Year 5 and 6 pupils and have introduced balance -ability for our younger pupils. The police give road safety talks regularly.

Our wonderful Year 3 Team hold an annual Stone Age sleepover, and our Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to take part in a Residential trip.

Our Minster Muscles are promoted across the school and end of term assemblies focus upon a key Muscle.

Starting in EYFS, we promote growing food to eat, this year to extend this offer we are introducing an enrichment cooking curriculum to support the development of life skills from EYFS to Year 6.
