Family Support
Hello, my name is Karen Lawrence, and I am the new Family Liaison Officer (FLO) at Minster Primary School. I love working together with families and children to help achieve the best outcomes for them and ensure mental health is a priority. My hobbies include keeping active and enjoying time with my children.
My role includes supporting communication between the school and our families. I am also a point of contact and support for parents and children if they have any worries, concerns, issues or feedback they wish to raise and discuss. I aim to help support both children and families to ensure that the children learn well and flourish.
I have 20 years of experience in the education and the health sector, supporting children and families. My roles have included Teaching Assistant, Nursery Nurse and my most recent role as a Senior Public Health Assistant within the NHS.
I work with any child and family who may need short or long-term support whether that is due to issues with attendance, punctuality, behavioural issues, home situations, or illness. The aim of the support is always to encourage and develop engagement and communication between the school and families. Through this engagement the aim is for the children to feel better supported and more able to access all the learning opportunities available to them at Minster In Sheppey Primary School.
I work with families to help and guide them through processes of working with external organisations, such as Early Help, School Health, Kent Young Carers and other agencies. I also store food parcels here in school, for families in need of help and support. Please contact me if you need support by coming to my office or sending me an email.
I am always willing to listen to any questions, worries, concerns or queries that you may have. My door is always open, I am here to support you and your children. My office is located opposite the main entrance, just before the reception counter.
